Infinite and Unknowable: Mixed Media by Anita Hagan

Martino Gallery, 2nd floor

Anita Hagan is a printmaker and mixed media artist living in Beverly Beach, Maryland in a small cottage on the Chesapeake Bay.  Working in the medium of linoleum block printing for over 25 years, she developed the unique technique of printing black ink over acrylic paint on handmade Kozo paper. Recently, Ms. Hagan expanded her style to include mixed media acrylic painting on canvas -  incorporating beads, gold leaf, fabric, collage and found material. Inspired by both the figure and the natural world, Hagan's show at Maryland Hall, entitled Infinite and Unknowable explores  her belief that all living things are beautifully mysterious and complex - especially people. Through her work, she seeks to understand, respect and honor those complexities, as she continues to push boundaries in her art. Ms. Hagan's work can be found in private collections across the United States, was recently featured in the arts magazine Upstart 2015 Winter Edition.
