COVID-19 Updates:

Reopening Maryland Hall

Maryland Hall is now open to the public on a limited basis. During this initial stage of our reopening, only registered students or those with an appointment will be admitted inside Maryland Hall. Students and visitors will be buzzed into the building; there will be no open access.

  • To request an appointment, please contact the organization you wish to visit
  • The Galleries remain closed
  • The Cafe at Maryland Hall is offering curbside service (Details)
  • Art Things is open (Details)

To ensure a positive visit, please review our new policies:

Masks must be worn by staff, building users, students, parents, and visitors at all times while inside the building. If you do not have one, one will be provided.

NEW ENTRANCE/EXIT PROTOCOL

  • Only registered students or those with an appointment will be admitted to MD Hall.
  • No walk-ins are permitted.
  • The only open entrance to the building will be in the rear, parking lot C, and patrons will be buzzed into the building.
  • Students and visitors must sanitize their hands at station inside entrance.
  • Stairwells are assigned a one way direction: going up or going down.
  • Parents of children ages 2-9 must do their best to make sure their children have face coverings.

Visitors will be asked to remain at home if any of the following apply:

  • Any person with a temperature of 100.4 or more are asked to remain at home.
  • Any person showing signs of illness, or having any clinical symptoms in the last 14 days, that may be associated with COVID-19, are asked to remain at home.
  • Any person who has been at risk of exposure or close contact to anyone who has had a laboratory confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis are asked to remain at home.

STUDENT DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURE

  • Parents may drop off child/ren ages 13+ at MD Hall rear entrance, parking lot C, for classes. Students will be buzzed into the building. MD Hall Teaching Artists will take attendance. Parents may not wait in MD Hall hallways, but are encouraged to wait in their cars. Student pick up will be in the same parking lot.
  • Parents must escort their child/ren between the ages of 9-12 to their classroom after check in. MD Hall Teaching Artists will take attendance. Sanitized class materials and name cards will be in place for each child at their assigned table. Parents will pick up their children in the hallway outside of the classroom. Pick up will be supervised by MD Hall staff or MD Hall Teaching Artist. Parents must sign a wellness form at check in.

MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING

  • Limit the number of students in each class (8 students max for dance and visual arts and 4-6 max for ceramics and glass fusing); adopt social distancing in all classes and maintain 6 feet between all class participants – through spacing between ceramic wheels, desks/tables, specific locations for each dancer in the dance studio, etc. Students and Teaching Artists will maintain a 6 foot distance whenever possible.
  • Eliminate shared items at MD Hall: no access to the water fountain.
  • Follow floor directional arrows in hallways and stairwells and common area to classrooms.
  • Students must bring their own filled water bottles to class.

EXPAND CLEANING PROTOCOL

  • Expand cleaning of MD Hall classrooms, restrooms, and hallways.
  • Provide hand sanitizer in every classroom.
  • Expand time between classes to accommodate thorough cleaning of every classroom and dance studio between classes.
  • All restrooms and commonly-touched areas will be wiped down on an ongoing basis.

Staff are working remotely during regular business hours. The best way to contact us is to email info@marylandhall.org. Voicemails are also being monitored and you may visit our Staff Directory for individual contact information. We thank you for your continued support.
